Books

When life gets dull, we turn to books to read about someone else’s life. They’re an escape, a refuge, a sanctuary when life gets messy.

Has anyone heard of the book Arena? It’s written by Karen Hancock, she’s also written a series called Legends of the Guardian King I think. I haven’t read them myself, but my sister and her best friend read Arena and absolutely adored it. So if anyone else has read it, I would appreciate it if I could get some info so I know if I want to read it. My sister and her friend are both naturally depressed and I’m… not… to say the least, so I don’t know if I’d like it or not despite their assurances. If anyone has read it who ISN’T depressive, please tell me if you enjoyed it.

Twilight. Read it. Just trust me, it is AWESOME!!!! It’s mostly a girls’ book because it’s nothing but romance, but there are several guys who read it too, such as my friend C.M. and Matt B. Twilight is a series about a romance between a girl and a vampire, written by Stephenie Meyer, I must say, it’s a work of art. I’ve only known one person who didn’t like the books, and every one else who’s read them that I’ve spoken to has loved them. What I like, is that they are very romantic, but are also very clean seeing as he is a vampire and has to resist the urge to bite her so they can’t exactly go very far. Anyway, if you’re looking for a new book to read, Twilight and it’s sequels are definitely what I recommend. They are as follow:

    Twilight
    New Moon
    Eclipse
    Breaking Dawn (releases August 2nd)

And a Twilight movie comes out in December.

I finally read and finished Arena. It rocked, but it left me feeling like the end was missing something. It’s late, mom want’s me off, more later!

So….. My taste in books has improved. Considering that one of the only two books I mentioned on here is Twilight. I still think the series is entertaining, but nowhere near as good as all the fuss that’s made about it. And the movies aren’t really all that wonderful. Again, entertaining, but not amazing.

So…. The Name of the Wind. Patrick Rothfus. *GAPE* Read. It.
It is AMAZING. Everyone who has read it has agreed that it is fan-frikin-tastic. If you like Harry Potter books, you will DEFINITELY like this. If you ~don’t~ like Harry Potter books, you will like this book!!!! My brother is very critical. He hates Twilight, loves fantasy novels, and doesn’t read anything that isn’t excellent. He loves it. He turned me onto it. Read it. I command you!
